Pests affecting the plot checken from near by houses eating the young plants. Questions/Comments from Audience  Church leaders said many people in the village has adopted the closely planting techniques. Most of the villagers have reduced planting spacing from 90cm they used to to 60 cm interrow spacing  What is the best time o apply fertilizers (Second application)? As discussed in the training section, the best way to apply fertilizers is when the plants are at knee high  Can we apply pesticides using sand as we normally do traditionally? As long as you follow recommendation such as diluting the pesticides, 30cc in 15 litres of water, you can follow those traditional ways of applying pesticides  How about mixing fertilizers? It is mostly not recommended. Mixing of fertilizers do not harm the plants but it is uneconomical way to mix two types of fertilizers before application  NPK called winner, is it for beans only? That type of fertilizers is suitable for beans and vegetables. You can use it in tomatoes, coffee, onions etc. Discussion and Conclusion The plot is good. They sid that this is their fouth year in the program and they have learned a lot. We encouraged them to adopt the farming techniques taught. Better farming practices woul increase crop yields if they are adopted and used by farmers.
