• Pyrethrum
Pyrethrum has been grown here for long time. It is high altitude area that experience very cold weather. The area receives enough rainfall. The climate is suitable for pyrethrum. Farmers seem to be worried about the market
Field officer from PCT spoke about advantages of growing pyrethrum. He assured the villagers that there is reliable market of pyrethrum. PCT will get into contracts with farmers to buy from them with a good price. A famer has to follow appropriate agronomic practices to get high quality flowers. He then instructed them about appropriate land preparation for growing pyrethrum. Thus villagers were instructed to prepare a plot for pyrethrum demonstration plot. Seedlings will be transplanted to this plot in January.
Conclusion
We expect improvement in the demonstration plots in Lulanzi this year. It was insisted that the success of the program should go together with the farmers adopting the farming practices to their own farms.
