Mangulisa The plot has been moved to the area close to the Pastor’s house. The area is close to the area where the new pastor’s house is been built. Topics 1. Greetings Roger delivered greetings from Gethsemane Lutheran, Maplewood and US Institute of Agriculture Adversory Committe 2. Review of the handouts  4th visit instructions • Discussion about germination, Replanting and Pest • Weeding after planting • Second fertilizers application 3. Demonstration Demonstration on second fertilizer applic (second application). Farmers participated in apply fertilizers in their demonstration plots. 4. Insecticide Application. We delivered a bottle of pesticides and demonstrated the ratios to be used for pesticides application. 5. Delivery. We delivered fertilizers and insecticides Item Fertilizers for Corn Pesticides Variety/Type NPK Thionex Amount 2Bag 1 bottle Demonstration plots The corn plot was planted in the mid of December 2012. The instructions were properly followed, plants are in good spacing and look great. There were signs of leaf eating insects, we delived pesticides and instructed them to spray the plants as soon as possible. Beans will be planted this month. Questions/Comments from Audience  What is the good time to apply second application of fertilizers? Fertilizers should be applied when plants are at knee high. In areas with continuous rainfall and prone to leaching, second application can be done in splitting  When apply fertilizers, should we cover the fertilizers When you apply fertilizers, wheather is the first application or top dressing, it is advised to cover the fertilizers with the soil. Conclusion This year, the plot look better than the first year. The supervison is encouranging and management is good. We expect a better performance of the plot this year. The Farmers are always attracted to adopt the farming techninques when the demonstration plot look better and perform well than local farms.
