2010 CVP Companion Village Project 3rd Visit Year Three October 10, 2012 Village Kiponzelo Pastor Jazbeli Ndendya Companion Gustavas Adolphus Lutheran Attendees 3 Weather Sunny Reporters Gabriel & Rev. Kulwa Sadatael We met Pastor and two other parish members. There has been poor communication between institute communication personeel and the Pastor. We told Pastor that we will demonstrate before him, deliver the seeds and fertilizers and leave the handouts. He said that he will demonstate before other parish members. Purpose • Delivering seeds and fertilizers • Demonstrating planting and fertilizer application Topics • Review of the handouts The handouts contain instructions were reviewed - 3rd Visit Instruction - Plant population and Fertilizer applications - Fertilizer needs template • Demonstrations Demonstration on how to plant and apply fertilizers was conducted. • Seeds and fertilizers The following were delivered Corn Seeds Bean Seeds Fertilizers Variety Amount (kg) Variety Amount (kg) Type Amount (bags) H625 8 Uyole Njano 30kg NPK 4 Discussion In our 5th and 6th visits, we noticed that there were parts of the demonstration plots were plants were very weak and yield were very poor. After the discussion with the farmers we suspected that the areas had low content of organic matter. We instructed them to apply cow manure in that areas. Today we gave pastor money for purchasing the cow manure and for transporting that manure to the demonstration plot. Conclusion This will be he third year of the program here. We told Pastor that we expect better outcome this year. We hope that they have nough experience to manage the plots. Pastor said that people are slowly adopting the techniques.
